Special design
Rather than a fullback, it features wings and a built-in headrest. There are no armrests but a wide, contoured seat.
The cool design extends to the five caster wheels. Each of the footplates curves too. It’s not something you can see in other office chairs.

This chair is intended for table heights of at least 72 centimeters or 28.3 inches.
Adjustments aplenty

High-quality materials
The five-star aluminum base of the HAG Capisco is polished for a smooth finish. Aluminum is lightweight enough for adjusting and shifting the Capisco into any of its different positions.
The footplates are polished aluminum as well while the caster wheels are nylon and plastic.
Some of the levers and knobs for adjusting the HAG Capisco are also made of nylon or plastic.

Four seating positions

Ergonomic support

The HAG Capisco has several ergonomic and support features. You can raise or lower the backrest height, set the seat depth, and adjust the height of the seat as well.
The tilt tension is adjustable backward, and with HAG, tilting is supposed to be flowing and balanced so you never feel like you’re going to fall out of your chair.
The saddle seat’s contouring allows your hips to open so you’re sitting facing forward. This make sure the proper posture that might alleviate body aches and pains, especially if you’re working a long day.

Suddenly having to work from home at my laptop all day due to COVID-19 and not having a proper desk or desk chair at home, was killing my back. I got the Capisco two days ago and am loving it so far. It’s comfortable to sit in forward, backward, and sideways, and encourages movement throughout the day. The seat back feels great on my back. The seat tilts and has a tilt lock, seat height, and seat depth adjustment that are easy to adjust.
Assembly is super simple, you only have to tighten one bolt with an allen wrench to connect the back to the seat, and then drop the lift and seat onto the base. It took me less than a minute.
The only caveat is that for this chair, as sold, the lift may be too high for a standard office desk height (28-30″). It’s best for a higher desk or an adjustable desk. If you want to use it with a fixed, standard height desk, you will need to order a shorter pneumatic lift to replace the one that comes with it. My “desk” is more like a dinner table height (31″) and the lowest height on this chair feels about right.

I am an artist who gets lost in her work. This chair reminds me to stay upright. I can stretch my legs out while seated and open up my chest area to keep flexible. Good body awareness. Expensive but well worth the price fir a healthy body.

I got this chair because it was recommended to me by my chiropractor. But after using it for a few weeks I find it to be uncomfortable and not any better for my back than many other chairs costing much less.

I fell in love with this chair way back in the ’90s… I needed good back support for extended desk work, often 12 hours or more at a time. I bought another HAG chair with a headrest as my main chair, but I loved the form of this chair so I bought it as well.
I eventually wore out my headrest HAG (can’t remember the name and they don’t seem to sell it any more… be aware that HAG doesn’t bother with retailers). But the Capisco remains, after 30 years, largely because it went unused. It’s a fine chair if you’re a painter or some other active profession, but it’s not for long-term sitting. The marketing materials look great with all the photos showing so many positions you can sit in, and trust me I’ve tried them all at length through the years. But when you need to sit and concentrate for hours this chair will begin to make you feel like your pelvis is spreading at the seams… instead of being absorbed in your work, you’ll be endlessly trying position after position to alleviate the pain in your buttocks.
I still use it, and I like it as an interesting conversation piece. But it’s really only good for an active occupation… not for sitting and staring at a computer screen for hours.
