Steelcase Series 1 Review: What’s Special About Its Design?

The Series 1 not only performs well, but it also looks great. It is has an unique appearance.

When it comes to dimension, Steelcase Series 1 has a maximum height adjustment of 41.25′′ and a 400-pound weight capacity.

Overall, that’s rather impressive and should be enough for the vast majority of individuals. The greatest big and tall chairs we showcase on this site have a weight capacity of 400 pounds.

Steelcase Series 1 review

Not to mention, its frame and base are both strong, giving customers a sense of stability and security while sitting.

It does, however, have a plastic frame and base. Surprisingly, we haven’t had many concerns regarding the chair’s build quality, such as wear and tear.

From the curved seat to the rounded armrests and ridges along the edge of the backrest, this will definitely be a lovely addition to your office environment.

Especially with its 9 distinct color possibilities, as well as fabric and frame material options.

The seat’s design is particularly noteworthy, with a gentle downward bend in the center that gives adequate support without being too restrictive.

Unlike other ergonomic office chairs, which have sharply harsh lines and edges, the Series 1 has rounded edges and a small form, making it considerably softer.

Whether you choose to go flamboyant with your office chair or keep it low-key and modest, the chair comes in a variety of hues.

Steelcase Series 1 Review: How Can It Help You Improve Your Health?

In this Steelcase Series 1 review, we will show many high-end ergonomic features of this great chair that will keep you comfortable and productive.

LiveBack Technology

Firstly, the best point you should consider is that the LiveBack technology is its distinguishing feature. These are flexors that bend and flex independently as you move throughout the day.

This specification motivates your body to exercise, resulting in improved blood circulation throughout the body helps to improve focus and lessen pain.

While sitting, the LiveBack flexor system will support you as you shift positions. As a result, it gives your spine the support it requires to maintain its alignment.

The unique synchro-tilt mechanism is another noteworthy ergonomic feature. As you recline, the seat and back operate in tandem.

Height Adjustment

A seat height adjustment should be included in every office chair. That’s a good point of this Steelcase Series 1 review in terms of what this chair helps your health.

In fact, the seat height on the Steelcase Series 1 can be adjusted. The seat height can be adjusted from 16.5 to 21.5 inches.

To raise or lower your seat, simply lift or pull the lever beneath your seat. This keeps your seat firmly planted on the floor while keeping the display monitor at eye level.

Armrests

Your arms can rest naturally if they are at the same height as your workspace. A soft cap on the armrests relieves pressure on your forearms and elbows.

You can squeeze the button behind the arm cap of this chair while elevating or lowering the armrest to alter the armrest height.

By grabbing and sliding the caps, you may modify the arm width, pivot, and depth. The armrests can be moved in and out, forward and backward, and side to side.

Furthermore, with this best office chair, working on your computer while keeping your arms relaxed and parallel to the desk that will allow you to work comfortably without straining your wrist, shoulder, or neck.

Seat Pan Depth Adjustment

It’s an innovative adjustability.

Different leg lengths can be accommodated by the movable seat pan, which relieves strain behind the knees and improves lower back and leg support.

This eliminates the need to scoot back in your chair to reach the backrest or cut off circulation at the knees.

Backrest Adjustment

Both the back recline and the back tension may be adjusted with one control on the Steelcase Series 1.

Simply turn the comfort dial to the desired position, and it will click. This dial allows you to adjust the back angle so that you can remain upright or recline.

The tightness in your spine and lower back diminishes as you recline back, which is the most oustanding feature that Steelcase Series 1 review evaluate highly.

This reclining ability can help with lower back discomfort and other health issues such as scoliosis.

Steelcase Series 1 Review: Customer Reviews

Positive Review

Scott highly evaluated “A Great Work From Home Chair”

“If you will be sitting in chair for 10 hours a day it needs to be comfortable and supportive. I tried many, many chairs in search for the perfect one, and this turned out to be the one.
I am 6′-2″ so for starters it needed to be deep enough from front to back to have enough thigh support.

It needed to be supportive without an uncomfortable gouge in the lower back. This chair fits my lower back perfectly with the lumbar component adjusted to its lower position, and helps my seating posture without being uncomfortable.

The amount of tension that it has when rocking back and forth during the normal workday is perfect – not too stiff and not too light.
Seat cushion fits the posterior well – not uncomfortable by end of day and, as mentioned, the seat can be adjusted to a forward position that allows for more thigh support for taller folks.
It needed to have a back that was not too high such that it bugged my upper back. This is just right. I tried a few “office manager” faux leather chairs – many of the backs were too high and the chairs were heavy, which made your normal moving around tiresome.

Adjustable armrests are nice and very easy to move around – just the right size and nicely contoured. Armrest height easy to adjust. A very big plus for me with this chair is that the armrest can be lowered enough and set set back enough for me to be able to use this chair when recording with both my electric and acoustic guitars. I just slip one of my wife’s thick socks over the armrest and it protects the guitars if they should happen to contact it. I fold the other sock over the end of the armrest before I slip the second one over and there is a nice, soft, protective ball at the end – voila!
Rolls nicely on laminate floor. Looks great, tons of color options/combinations, very well made and sturdy.

I love this chair. Absolutely no regrets!”

Dan Knopf also ranked 5 stars “Great, sturdy chair for home office”

“Like many people, I went back and forth before deciding to buy this chair, because why would you buy this one when you could buy something with the same function for as little as $40 or $50 from an office or big box store? You should buy this chair if you sit a lot, or if you have a larger frame and know (all too well) what the bottom of seat cushion feels like, or if you need a dependable, quality product that doesn’t feel cheap, or rattle, wobble, or squeak. This chair is made in the USA.

This chair is beautifully designed, is sturdy and is very easy to assemble. I am 6″2 and weigh about 250 lbs., and I can sit in this chair all day long, and I have sat in it every day for the last month that I have had it. The arm rests move with you. When my living room furniture started giving me back issues, I just started watching TV from my home office while seated in this very chair, and my back and posture have improved dramatically.

If I could buy living room furniture that is as ergonomic and comfortable as this chair is, I definitely would. So really, you buy this chair for the ergonomics, the beautiful design (especially if you are a Trekkie, the grey and seagull chair looks very futuristic), the wide-enough-for-just-about-anybody seat and frame that flexes in all the right places and adjusts in all the right ways and doesn’t make unwanted sounds, and the “cushy tushy” seat cushion. After a solid month of use, I would definitely buy this chair again and again.”

Negative Review

Fei reviewed “The chair is not functioning well”

“The chair is not functioning well because there is a defect that the chair’s height could not be adjusted. I selected this brand because my office is all equipped with these chairs and they are good. But this special category of the chair didn’t work well because the height could not be adjusted. So I called the customer service of Steelcase company, and they are accommodating, even sent me a big box for easy return.

Amazon return is easy as usual. The whole procedure took a certain time, and I searched for another chair again. I got a two-star because of the good customer service.”

Jack ranked 1 star on Amazon “Teerible service, bad quality control, doesn’t worth it.”

“I got a broken chair, the height adjustment is not functioning at all. To return the chair, you will need to fit it into the original package, which means you need to decompose it into original parts. As you can imagine, it is difficult to decompose a chair like this without a tutorial document. I called the Steelcase service three times (you will need to wait for a long time to talk with them), they promised me that they will then send an email with the tutorial document, but none of those promises came true. You know, spending more money to purchase the same chair from a verified dealer is supposed to make things easier, but not when buying something from Steelcase. I guess maybe Steelcase doesn’t care about individual buyers like us.

So, why don’t you spend your money somewhere else? A $400+ chair is not the most expensive one, but you should be paying enough to receive at least normal service and a fully functional product. Not something like this anyway.”
