Noho Move chair review: What’s special about its design?

So is there anything special in the Noho Move chair’s design?

The Noho Move chair has an elegant and minimalist look. The material used in this chair is made almost entirely from waste plastic, like econyl, regenerated nylon, sourced 100% from reclaimed fishing nets and end-of-use carpets, to help nurture our oceans and environment.

And it’s super light weight.

The chair’s design ensures correct posture and dynamic ergonomic comfort, supporting all of your activities, from dining, to relaxing, and working from home.

Particularly notable for its design are the chair’s slender, angled legs, which have midcentury-modern flair and make the piece worthy of dining rooms, living rooms, as well as the home office.

The main part of the chair is made from recycled plastic from fishing nets, with an interlocking, almost mesh-like texture.

These interlocking pieces give the Noho Move a bouncy feeling, bending under your legs when you shift forward, and flexing as you lean back.

If you don’t like the interlocking design, you can get a topper for a more streamlined look. You can select one or more of the Noho’s interchangeable upholstery toppers made from sustainably sourced and naturally durable New Zealand wool.

Noho Move chair review: How can it help you improve your health?

Now, let our Noho Move chair review tell you about the ergonomic features of the chair.

Comfort

Noho Move chair review

Made primarily of upcycled plastic, the chair’s streamlined form includes a mesh-like, breathable seat that allows four-way flexibility.

Adding to the overall comfort, the Noho Move breaths to modulate temperature, preventing heat build-up and loss, so you’re always right in your thermal comfort zone.

It also helps improve circulation and relieves pressure points.

It incorporates an auxetic mesh seat that provides 4-way flex and form-fitting support that cradles your body.

Ergonomic features

What revolutionizes the Noho Move chair is its patented design that rocks, complies with any physique, and enables a “forward-tilt” and “recline-flex”, delivering a uniquely fluid motion and ergonomic support.

This support intuitively responds to your every activity and posture, eliminating pressure points, and improving your body’s circulation.

The team at Noho works to combine a deep understanding of human physiology and movement with a mastery of ergonomic design and engineering.

The result is that the chair back will move with you whenever you change your position.

Noho Move chair review

This unique balance of support and movement creates responsive, dynamic comfort for better physical health and well-being.

However, since the chair’s design is different from the normal office chairs, the Noho Move chair lacks of headrest, armrest, and it doesn’t have much ergonomic adjustability. So you may find it uncomfortable for sitting in it for long hours per day.

Positive Noho Move chair reviews

A review from Kyle McMorr: “I would say I’d give this chair a 4.5/5, but I still highly recommend it.”

Initial impressions:
After deliberating on making a purchase for this chair for about a year, I finally pulled the trigger. The unboxing was super satisfying. When I first sat in the chair I was surprised by how firm it was. I thought it would bend a bit more in the seat.

Impressions after more use:
After sitting in it now for a few weeks, I see the magic of this chair. Being more firm causes me to sit more upright, fixing my posture. The chair has great flexibility when it comes to its rocking motion. This is the biggest thing for me. The chair isn’t static, it truly does “move with you” as they say. The back of the chair gives your spine all of the support but allows you to move back and forth and side to side and it’ll still cradle you. While it’s not super comfy initially, you realize that its meant to cradle you and teach you to be more proactive. If you want a bit more comfort, I could always buy a small seat cushion… but I find this chair to be great for working and less for relaxing.

Cons:
• Initially not as comfy as I imagined based on the photos. Not every chair can/should be relaxing though!
• Price (it’s expensive, but if you think about this chair as more of an investment than a frivolous purchase, you’ll actually appreciate why it costs so much).
• The topper is a bit more challenging to put on than I would’ve liked. I was having a hard time finding online the best/most efficient way of installing the topper.

Pros:
• Even though it’s rigid, you’ll grow into the chairs comfort.
• Stylish
• Strong build
• Eco-friendly
• Varying colorway options for the topper (can make it feel like a new chair with a color change!)
• Incredible support for your spine
• I find I can stretch my back on this chair. A nice surprise!
• Corrects/refines posture
• Great for productivity

Final thoughts: I think this chair is a really great investment. Every chair in your home should have a different function, and this serves the function I was looking for. A great chair that’s both functional and stylish. You’ll find this chair great for productivity. Even though the chair is made of plastic, it still feels really sturdy and well built. Even better that it’s made from ECONYL™, Nylon 6 from reclaimed fishing nets and end of life carpet), and recycled post-industrial polypropylene. You’ll feel great in this versatile chair and feel even better knowing that you’re not contributing to wrecking the environment. Make the purchase! You won’t regret it.

Anna Barlow:

I deliberated whether to buy a Noho Move for a very long time, I must admit I was a little scared about making such a big financial investment. But I can say, I do not regret this purchase for a second! It is so incredibly comfortable & nice to have an office chair that looks good and is functional. I’ll be adding to my collection with a chair cover soon!

Negative Noho Move chair reviews

Another review from Sterling Nealy:

Pretty uncomfortable for long stretches. Does not make a good office chair replacement. Seems cheaply constructed especially considering the price. I like that it’s recycled and that it flexes but it looks pretty cheap, like something you’d find at IKEA. The toppers are not very plush so I’d skip those altogether.

Jacob Butts:

The idea behind these chairs is excellent, but the execution leaves you wanting. The chair height is too high, even for me, a 6 foot guy. My girlfriend (5’4) cannot touch the ground with her feet when she sits in the chair, making for an uncomfortable experience. Because of the shape of the chair and the lack of arms, if you can’t comfortably touch the ground with your legs you feel very unstable in the chair, particularly because the seat moves as you do.

Despite a high price-point the materials are rather unrefined and unfinished. I think it is great they are made from recycled materials, but there are sharp, rough edges along the chair that dig into the backs of your legs and are noticeable to the eye, detracting from the design and perceived quality.

Maybe in a few years they will have the production and height more refined, but for now, these are a return for me and a pass for interested buyers in my opinion.
