Herman Miller Mirra 2
Mirra 2 moves with the person, at one with the body. When you sit, the seat and back adapt to you instantly. Mirra 2 balances immediate comfort and personalized ergonomics in one sophisticated design.
Herman Miller Mirra 2 review: What’s special about its design?
In this Herman Miller Mirra 2 chair review, one of the first things you’ll notice about the Mirra 2 is its ultra-simplistic design.
The backrest swoops outward in clean lines, and the frame itself is minimalistic yet aesthetically appealing.
The shape of Mirra 2 allows it to provide a good level of support while reinforcing good posture habits.
The back is vented to increase airflow, which lets you stay cool and focused for long periods.
According to the manufacturers:
This makes it a very appealing choice for those seeking comfort as well as style in their office chair.
There are many colors to choose between, from the noticeable and most expensive urban orange option to the more muted and cheaper graphite.
This chair will work just fine for the majority of workers because it can hold up to 350 pounds with no problems.
Even if something goes wrong, it comes with a 12-year guarantee.
Herman Miller knows that this is a pricey product, so they want to make sure you get your money’s worth.
The good news is that the Mirra 2 is 93% recyclable, since it’s made mostly of plastic. This model is already eco-friendly since it consists of 45% recycled materials.
This chair is fairly expensive. But there are optional extras you can add that bump the price up.
Some of these are worth having: there’s a seat depth modifier, adjustable arms, a tilt limiter, and a variety of casters for different surfaces.
There are 3 different caster options on the Mirra 2. They are the standard carpet casters, the standard hard floor or carpet casters, and the hard floor or carpet roll-away casters with quiet roll technology.
Because the Mirra 2’s price is high, it’s unsuitable for only occasional users.
Just keep in mind that this isn’t just a place to sit. It’s an insurance policy with practical use. Back strain can take employees out of the office for weeks, and this chair helps prevent this entirely.
Further, as your team is more comfortable, they’ll be more productive. So, if you’re an employer, you should consider buying these chairs for your employees.
Herman Miller Mirra 2 review: How can it help you improve your health?
The Herman Miller Mirra 2 is the best Herman Miller chair for home office that can help you fight lower back pain if you’re not using an ergonomic office chair right now.
It’s the end of a long workday. You’re tired, and you just want to get home, but when you stand up, you notice your back really hurts. These injuries are predictable, but preventable if you have the right equipment.
In an office setting, a high-quality chair isn’t just eye candy – it’s a necessity.
Take the Herman Miller Mirra 2, for example. It’s a premium chair with an excellent reputation. The Herman Miller Mirra 2 chair is definitely worth it. We’re talking about your health after all.
As soon as you park yourself in the Mirra 2 you will notice how the chair’s mesh, called AirWeave, moulds to your posterior and legs to give you a feeling of suspension rather than pressure.
There are two back options help Mirra 2 work for a variety of people and applications:
- The ultra-responsive butterfly back which results from inventing a method for merging a fabric layer with polymer veins to create a dynamic hybrid structure that acts like a suspension membrane.
- The TriFlex back that meets more rigorous cleaning protocols because there is no fabric layer.
The mesh also distributed our weight so that the backs of our legs never felt like they were being compressed, and we were able to squirm and adjust our sitting position easily and comfortably.
It has a flex front seat, which allows the depth of the chair to be adjusted in order to achieve the most cool and comfortable position for the individual.
The flexible seat back is perhaps the most striking feature of the Mirra 2. As well as being distinctive, it gives with the user, while offering effective and adjustable lumbar support to prevent slouching and encourage healthy spine alignment.
If you suffer from back problems, and this is exacerbated by sitting, then the Mirra 2 offers a level of comfort and ergonomics that could be the difference between getting up with stiffness in the spine and lumbar region or being pain free.
The polymer membrane moulds around your spine adjusting as you lean back into the backrest.
The fabric overlay ups the comfort factor and, as with the seat pad, gives that feeling of suspended support.
In addition to the standard seat height adjuster, there’s also a smooth tilt mechanism that enables the user to tilt forward to work, or lean back in a more relaxed position.
Fully adjustable arms minimise the risk of pain in the neck and shoulder areas, which is a feature lacking in many cheaper chairs.
In terms of other movements, the chair swivels easily through 360 degrees, and you can spin as you move from your desk to a filing cabinet on castors that roll easily on both carpet and hard floors.
If remote working takes up a sizable portion of your working week, then you need a chair that’s going to be able to take the sting out of sitting and stop your body from seizing up from your latest session in front of the keyboard.
The Mirra 2 is wonderful to look at and will add some modernity to any workspace.
It’s a near perfect sitting machine with so much to offer for users with current back problems, or anyone who wants to ensure that they are doing everything in their power to promote good back health.
Herman Miller Mirra 2 review: Customer reviews
Let’s see what they say about this product!
Positive reviews
Over three-quarters of those who submitted ratings on Amazon awarded this chair 5 stars, finding it easy to use, lightweight and manoeuvrable.
According to customer Tom D., “Excellent and worth the investment.”
It seems there are two groups of people: those who love the mesh like seats and those who don’t. Personally I find Herman Miller chairs to be the most comfortable, especially for long periods. The pellicle material more evenly distributes body weight and creates fewer “pressure points”. I have an Aeron at work and bought this Mirra 2 for home. Comes pre-assembled which is very helpful and everything about the chair is high quality. This model has every possible adjustment so it’s impossible not to find a comfortable position.
One difference between these and the Aeron’s is that you tend to sit “on” these more than “in” the Aeron, so choose your seating style accordingly. These not only come with tilt/recline, but a knob to adjust tension, and arms are movable in all directions. These also come with a 12 year warranty, so for me it made sense since I tended to get 2 years out of a normal office chair before they came unscrewed/ripped/etc.
At $200 per, the cost is equal, but the quality is higher, and my environmental impact is less since I am only buying a single chair. We have also had those at work for 10+ years and they still look and feel brand new. The design is also very sleek and modern and adds an air of sophistication to any room that a cheapo chair just doesn’t. I highly recommend this and any Herman Miller product, they are well worth the investment.
Show more +Cthulhu: “Hands down, the most comfortable and adjustable chair I have ever owned.”
I got this in my quest to replace my Herman Miller Aeron chair which was coming unwoven in the back. I am a bit above average size at, 6’2″ and 220 lbs, and this chair is perfect for me. I tried several other less expensive chairs, and ended up returning them all. Let me tell you what is amazing about this chair: It’s pretty obvious that just about everything is adjustable, but there are some advantages which are not apparent from the description…
Built to last: I replaced the foam on my Aeron five times over five years, and when a woman’s ring caught one of the threads in the back it all started coming apart quickly. While the front of this chair does still have a small strip of foam, it’s better protected and since the leading edge of the seat is adjustable, it takes much less pressure. The back is also a plastic that bends and morphs as you move around, making both more durable but also ridiculously comfortable.
Well-made: This chair feels like it was designed and made by Porsche, with everything fitting perfectly and feeling very solid. The plastic and small amount of foam give off no odors, and this chair is ready for heavy use from the time you take it out of the box. Assembly was so easy I don’t think you can even really call it “assembly.”
Anyone who is hesitating, I can tell you you will not regret this purchase. I expect this chair to last me a decade at least, and that’s less than a quarter per day for something your body will thank you for.

However, a minority of customers do not rate the adjustable features as highly, finding the lumbar height and seat depth adjustment doesn’t make for a comfy chair.
User Eric Baum reviewed: “If you sit with your legs spread, DON’T buy.”
If you have a big bottom or thick legs, do not buy this product. The mesh seat settles in the middle. If you have big legs and /or you like to spread your legs (cause there’s reasons to spread your legs – especially men) you’ll find that the edge of the seat digs into your thighs. This causes a lot of discomfort. This chair must have been designed by a tiny person, or someone who never sits with legs at more than a 20 degree angle. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE.
Show more +“Discomfort and bad local purchase!“ – Said Golden Hands.
I bought this chair from a local dealer. At their showroom it fit perfectly. After having it a few weeks my lower back and psoas muscles hurt like hell! I tried every adjustment to no avail. I contacted the seller and they claimed no returns at all. I even tried to ask for at least a restocking fee. Nope. I contacted Herman Miller and they said since I bought it from a local company they have their own rules. If I would have bought it from them they would have taken it back in 30 days a done a swap or full refund! I’m very disappointed!
Show more +There is no doubt that the Mirra 2 is a very “neat” chair, so it may be the case that there are better chairs out there for taller people.
If you’re investing in a chair of this quality and price, it has to look as good as it feels to sit on. And in this regard, the Mirra 2 certainly doesn’t disappoint. It’s top of the line.
As one owner gushes: “The design is very sleek and modern and adds an air of sophistication to any room.”
Should you buy the Herman Miller Mirra 2 Chair?
If you are looking for a chair that has designer looks but also has comfort and good back health at its core, the Mira 2 is definitely worth considering. It’s hard to find an alternative that has so many functions crammed into such a neat package.
Of course, that package comes at a considerable cost. This is a chair built for style-conscious people who are prepared to invest in quality furniture for their home or office.
And as mentioned above, Mirra 2 is a perfect choice for working at the office or work from home. It helps you improve your back issues so that it also improves your working performance.
It’s not perfect for everyone, but it is a great choice for most.
